Just a quick post here. Geekbench is quite popular tools for benchmarking the processor released by Primate Labs and this tiny program is available in cross-platform for Linux, Mac, Windows, Android and even iOS. They also provide benchmark database for users to compare their scores with other users. This is my result; good enough but not that powerful to do extensive video editing for professional post production. Geekbench is a paid app but free trial is available with restriction where you cannot run
After about two months using my Mac, I suddenly felt that my Mac is running slower. Its not that slow like Windows, but it's not as fast as the first day I'm using it. Actually I can tell that this drop in performance will probably caused by my SSD because i never trim it since the first use. I have a Kingston SSDNow V200+ installed in my Mac mini and TRIM is not supported because this is an after market SSD and Apple

Taking a whole webpage into a picture is something we might need once in a while and FireShot takes good care of this. But somehow the developer doesn't support Firefox in Linux which render this add on useless even though it's installable. Luckily we have another alternative - Awesome Screenshot. Awesome Screenshot works out of the box in Firefox for Linux. Installing is a breeze and the 'Edit' option will be available everytime you took a screenshot which enable you to crop the

Hi. Just a quick update here. Got it from Battery University. The table explains everything making me don't have to do so. Enjoy!

Currently I faced a problem where I automatically logged on to Kali Linux using gnome-fallback session. This made me think that maybe my graphic driver is not installed thus results in Kali Linux using gnome-fallback session as the default session when logging in. However, I am pretty sure that this Intel 3rd Generation graphics are supported out of the box by most Linux distros and i already reinstalled using the command sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel. I also install mesa-utils using sudo apt-get install mesa-utils but nothing
Recently Digiarty has released a new version of MacX Youtube Downloader that is compatible with Mac OS X Mavericks. This apps is really great in doing it's job and it comes in FREE! There is also paid version available but for downloading only Youtube video, the free version is more than enough. In this post I'll show you how to create a bootable USB of Mac OS X Mavericks so that you can do a fresh install of the OS. You can always update your OS X without doing the fresh install but I prefer a fresh install because.. it's fresh! So let's get started. To make a bootable media for your Mavericks you need all this: 1. 'Install OS X Mavericks.app' downloaded from the Apps Store. 2. 8GB empty USB pendrive or larger. Then,
Mac OS X has a very excellent memory management and it's way better than Windows. IMHO, it's better than certain Linux distribution like Ubuntu too. I used Ubuntu and it sucks especially after Canonical putting Unity in. Good job, Canonical. I by all means does not address this to other Linux distributions. Some of them are great such as ArchLinux. I'm just disappointed with the new Ubuntu. Ok enough with the introduction, let's move to the main story. Let's get started with what
Adobe has released a newer version of their software suite called Adobe Creative Cloud but some people out there are still using Adobe Master Collection CS6 for some reasons. However, both of this software suite will face some problem running on the newly released Mavericks. To fix this problem you have to install the updates for those softwares. Follow the link below for more information about this update. After Effects doesn't open in Mavericks After Effects CS6 (11.0.3) update: fix for crashes and
Bittorrent has launched 7.4.1 version of its software and offered it in a .pkg installer for Mac. However I am facing a problem installing it in Mavericks. The installer downloaded well but when it is executed, you'll can never pass their offer regardless you're accepting or declining the offer. This is really frustrating and I tried uTorrent instead. And guess what, the same problem still arise. So to solve this problem you'll have to install the old version packed in a .dmg file.

Activity Monitor is a piece of utility software that is similar to Windows Task Manager where almost all information provided by Windows Task Manager are also displayed. Lets just assume it as a task manager for Mac OS X operating system. Displayed below is the image of Activity Monitor found in Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The interface has been altered quite a lot and we can no longer see pie chart representing the RAM usage in sectors. As I found the pie
I've just got my hands dirty on this newly released Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and forgot to install the flash player for my Firefox, again. So, here are a several ways of how to get flash player installed so you can view web-based flash content. 1. Directly from the Ubuntu Software Center Just type in "flash" in the search field and you'll find the package that you're looking for. 2. Installing from Terminal command Just type in the command below: sudo apt-get install
Hi all. A quick update for my blog. Yesterday I googled about CPU-Z for Linux distribution and hoping there's an alternative for that kind of software I could use in my Xubuntu, and I found this tiny little apps called CPU-G that is quite similar to CPU-Z but a little less in detail. However, it's worth installing. Here's a screenshot of GPU-Z running on my PC. So i guess you all can already figure out what information provided by this piece of application
Today I'm so fucked up facing Ubuntu having problem while restarting and shutting down. There were times that Ubuntu took more than a minute to halt even in a fast drive like SSD. However, i finally managed to find a solution that solved this f****** problem and the fixes also improve the shutdown time and boot time. The steps are as follows: 1. Open network-manager.conf (located in /etc/init/) and add this line ("kill timeout 1") after "stop on stopping dbus" line. See diagram
Today i stumbled upon a tiny little program that can monitor your computer components such as processor and graphics card and display them so that you'll know if your computer is overheating. The program is psensor. This program can be installed by running this command: sudo apt-get install psensor After installing it, jump over to your dash menu and type in 'psensor' (without the single quote of course) to start it manually. You can play with the preferences and yes, it will be
Installing Google Chrome in Ubuntu 13.04 requires some work around since package 'libudev0' is not available in the Ubuntu 13.04 repositories. This only apply to fresh Ubuntu installation which mean if you're upgrading from Ubuntu 12.10, you'll never see this problem arise. To fix this problem you have to resolve all dependencies especially the package libudev0 by manually downloading and installing it. Get the .deb package here: libudev0 for 32bit libudev0 for 64bit Install libudev0 by using this command (refer image below) and
This is a simple note for myself since I've already forgotten how to change my Ubuntu hostname. And yes, seriously i forgot how to modify it already. Sigh~ So i googled it and poof!! This is how it can be done, in less than a minute. 1. Open up a terminal (note that biborn is my username and linuxbox is my current hostname). 2. Type in sudo nano /etc/hostname (you can use other text editor programs such as vi or gedit, I'll just
